Fundraising for Land
This is an exciting time for the Arboretum. In September 2024, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources awarded a 50/50 grant of $136,700 to the PCA. (See the letter here.) The Valley-to-Eastside Expansion Project will become a reality with help from the community.

Since we are working with the City of Platteville to purchase this land, the City Council had to vote on this resolution (see document), and ultimately accept it (document) before the PCA could go forward.

There's a parcel on Valley Road that could become a trailhead with parking, gardens, picnic area, informational kiosks and maybe bathrooms. There's also a stretch of old railroad bed from Business 151 to Eastside Road that would expand the trails in town. Fundraising is the next step.

To recognize donors, there are four levels of giving:
-
Porter ($1,000-$4,999)
-
Conductor ($5,000-$9,999)
-
Dispatcher ($10,000-$19,999)
-
Engineer ($20,000+)
Donors will be acknowledged on a special kiosk, on this website, and through social media.

The incredible part of this project is that we are starting already halfway to our goal!
