Committee Spotlight: Activities Committee

The Platteville Community Arboretum’s Activities Committee supports the mission of the organization: to connect the Platteville community to the Rountree Branch corridor, through recreation, conservation and environmental education.

Activities Committee chair Bob Hundhausen said the group focuses on creating events, both big and small, to encourage recreation, and to educate others on life along the trail. In the past, they have organized bird watching tours, educational events for summer camp participants, talks about native plants, and organized rides for seniors who haven’t had a chance to visit the trail. They also plan fundraising events like the upcoming Monster Dash 5k Run/Walk.

“We have new ideas coming and are organizing some new events, like the senior trail ride,” Hundhausen said. “We need additional volunteers and board members for this committee to be able to do more.”
